Building Project

PROJECT COMPLETE!!! 20/09/2013

A photographic record of the entire project (and a few other things!) can be found in our ONLINE GALLERY. Why not take a look?

Back in 2008, we received planning permission for a substantial annexe to be built alongside the original church building. This annexe would be a significant project that would develop a number of new spaces to provide a facility suitable for 7-day-a-week use and enable us to serve the community much more effectively.

Where we've come from

In 1997, Monyhull Church started meeting in the Victorian Chapel that originally formed part of the Monyhull Hospital. Since then, the hospital was sold on to a housing developer and the thriving Monyhull Grange neighbourhood has developed around the church building. The Church has increased in size and now has a morning congregation of over 200 - stretching the capacity of our current building!

We reached agreement with the relevant authorities whereby in exchange for the transfer of the church building to us, we would extend and develop the site and use it to serve the new housing development.

Where we've been going

The original Victorian building was a good size but lacked the necessary amenities for its current use. The new annexe now provides us with:

• New entrance and welcome area
• A large, second hall
• New, flexible meeting rooms
• New kitchen and toilets

The project also includes external landscaping and extra car parking. In the long term, we hope to refurbish the existing church building too.

Where we have got to

On 20th September 2013 the Monyhull Church Centre was completed and the building handed over to Monyhull Church. The cost has been in the region of £1.3 million, virtually all of it raised by members and friends of the church.
